
Two supervisors and two mentors shall care for each student admitted to the MPGC. They form the individual advisory group, which is established latest on admission to the doctoral program of the MPGC.
The supervisors shall be either professor or be qualified for professorship. One of them has to be principal investigator at the MPGC. They will be suggested by the Steering Committee and are authorised by the Joint Board. It is necessary that at least one of the supervisors holds a PhD degree in natural sciences and is either member of the departments 04, 08, 09 or 10 at Mainz University or authorised to be supervisor in the graduation process of the departments 08, 09 or 10.
A scientist from a foreign University can be authorised to be supervisor in a graduation at MPGC. He or she needs to be either professor or qualified for professorship. It must be ensured that an appropriate scientific and organisational care for the doctoral student is possible.
The foreign supervisor needs to confirm his or her agreement in a written statement to the Steering Committee and the Joint Board.
