Applying at the MPGC you are considering to live in Mainz and to work on the Campus of its university. A prospering mid size town of about 200,000 inhabitant will welcome you - and a University with more than 33,000 students. Mainz is not a Megacity but it provides a rich culture dating back to roman times, student nightlife, many leisure time events throughout the year, a good basis for excursions to nature, a great wine tradition and excellent connections to other places in Germany.
