Research Overview
Research in the MPGC is characterized by excellence and interdisciplinarity. Interdisciplinarity is supported by the requirement that the research must take place as a close collaboration between two or more partners, belonging to the University faculties or the Max Planck Institutes. These interdisciplinary research fields span a wide range of topics from material science and spectroscopy across geosciences to medical applications. To ensure excellence, both the research plan and prospective students are evaluated prior to admission.
Students at the Max Planck Graduate Center work on their research project, publish their findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present their research at conferences and symposia, in preparation of finalizing their PhD thesis. On these webpages we present MPGC and its interdisciplinary research fields, in particular our focus groups, which represent teams of several PIs and students working on the same topic from different angles.
