Ultrafast Bubble Bursting by Superamphiphobic Surfaces

Passive, surface-induced rapid bubble bursting and de-foaming without the need for chemical additives are highly desirable for a variety of industrial applications. Here, we demonstrate how the speed of bubble bursting can be controlled via the surface morphology of super liquid-repellent surfaces. Optimized surfaces induce bubble rupturing within 2 ms and demonstrate long-term chemical and mechanical stability even in the presence of surface-active species.
