Peptide Self-Assembly (PSA) Conference 2026

From Dynamic Structures to Functional Materials

August 13, 2026

From August 10–12, 2026, Mainz became a meeting point for leading scientists and young researchers working in the field of peptide self-assembly and supramolecular chemistry.

Among the organizers of the PSA conference were the MPGC Faculty members Tanja Weil, Shikha Dhiman and Pol Besenius. Their efforts brought together an international community of researchers and provided a platform for scientific exchange, discussion, and collaboration across disciplines.  Following the successful PSA meeting in Manchester in 2023, this year’s conference was hosted in Mainz by the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research.🧪🔬

PSA Conference 2026

The conference provided a platform for discussing the latest developments in peptide self-assembly and related areas of supramolecular science. The scientific programme covered a broad range of topics, from fundamental research to emerging applications.

Topics included de novo peptide design and synthesis, nature-inspired molecular motifs, supramolecular dynamics, non-equilibrium assemblies, and multiscale simulations. The programme also highlighted application-oriented research, including biomaterials, biomedical applications, catalysis, and sustainable chemistry.

A particular strength of the conference was the diversity of scientific perspectives represented by the participants. Researchers from different disciplines and career stages had the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore new approaches to understanding and controlling self-assembling systems.

The programme featured a distinguished international group of keynote and invited speakers from leading institutions in Europe, Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In addition to scientific presentations, poster sessions offered young scientists and early-career researchers an opportunity to discuss their latest results and connect with colleagues from around the world.

The conference was hosted at two institutions with a strong international profile in chemistry, materials science, and biomolecular research. Lectures took place at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, while the poster sessions were held at the Department of Chemistry of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

Beyond the scientific programme, PSA Conference 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations and establish new connections within the international research community.

We are pleased to have supported this important scientific event and to contribute to an environment that encourages scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation in the rapidly developing field of peptide self-assembly.

We would like to thank the organisers, speakers, participants, and all contributors for making PSA Conference 2026 in Mainz a successful and inspiring meeting.
