Precise age determination of speleothems – two different approaches on the ²³⁰Th/U disequilibrium method

One of the main advantage of speleothems in terms of paleoclimate reconstructions is the opportunity to date them very precisely. However, the presence of detrital material can hamper this precision a lot. In order to avoid this problem we tried a coupled approach of Laser Ablation and our standard U/Th measurements using a MC-ICP-MS in addition to the common approach used for years.
