Discovering two-photon chemistry: Fundamentals and application of two-photon processes

Since Giacomo Ciamician’s pioneering work, photoinduced chemistry has attracted growing attention for its ability to enable diverse (photo)chemical reactions under mild conditions. A key advancement beyond conventional one-photon chemistry is the use of two photons in a single reaction, which allows for even gentler conditions and expands the scope of photochemical processes. This talk will introduce the fundamental concepts behind molecular two-photon chemistry and discuss both mechanistic insights and practical application at the laboratory scale.
